Keeping Informed: Business Form Requirements in the State of Texas

February 25, 2016 3:10 pm Published by

serviceinvoicetexasLicensed contractors are required by the State of Texas to provide specific information on all printed materials. These specifications can change on a regular basis and it is up to the contractor to stay informed. Back in 2012, we posted a publication to help Electricians and HVAC contractors find information about form requirements for the State of Texas but since then some of the information has become outdated. Today, we will be covering some of the changes we’ve discovered concerning invoice requirements in the State of Texas.

All contractors still need to have the following printed on all proposals, invoices and written contracts:

  • Contractor’s Name
  • Address
  • Phone Number
  • License Number

Electricians and HVAC Contractors:

The below statement has changed since 2012 and should be updated on all printed material:

Regulated by The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, P.O. Box 12157, Austin, Texas 78711, 1-800-803-9202, 512-463-6599, www.tdlr.texas.gov

While we do our best to provide the most accurate and updated information to our clients, it is up to the individual to make sure all information on their form is correct. To do this, please reference the State of Texas website; Electrician Licensing Administrative Rules  and HVAC: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors Administrative Rules.

Pest Control Companies:

The Texas Department of Agriculture has it’s own set of rules and requirements for all licensed Pest Control Companies in the State of Texas. The following information must be printed on all contracts, warranty and guarantees, service agreements, termite disclosure documents, and customer information sheets:

Licensed and Regulated by: Texas Department of Agriculture
P.O. Box 12847 Austin, TX 78711-2847 Phone (866) 918-4481 Fax (888) 232-2567

You can find this information and more by visiting the Texas Department of Agriculture Website

Where to find Texas Invoices, Agreements and Work Orders

Just for our Texan clients, we’ve created a State of Texas Business Forms category where industry specific invoices can be easily located and purchased. These Texas forms come with the above information already available on the template.
