California Auto Repair Forms

The California Motor Vehicle Repair Act was created to assist consumers with matters relating to motor vehicle repair shops.

The Repair Estimate/Invoice Must Include the following:

1. The shop’s name, address, registration (ARD) number.
2. Work performed, including any work done under warranty.
3. Itemized list of parts, indicating used, reconditioned, rebuilt.
4. Labor cost.

A California guarantee must include:

1. The name and address of the business making the guarantee
2. What the guarantee will cover.
3. What must be done to use the guarantee.
4. How long the guarantee lasts.
5. What is excluded, if anything.
6. Whether the guarantee is prorated (adjusted for time or mileage).
7. Whether the guarantee is transferable.
